If you have talked with a real estate agent about buying you have probably (hopefully) heard, "the next step is to get pre-approved with a lender."
The big question: Why should you get pre-approved?
As Realtors, our job is to serve your best interest, and when you are starting the home-buying process the first action step, after thinking about your "must haves" and "deal breakers", is to find out how much house can you actually afford.
This is where a lender comes in handy. Lenders will evaluate your financial situation and will pre-approve you for a mortgage of a certain amount. By getting pre-approved you will have a clear idea about what you can afford. This will empower you to look at homes in your price range.
Once you have a pre-approval letter in hand, you'll be ready to write an offer on your next home. Most homeowners require a pre-approval to be sent with an offer.
